‘Bhoot Jolokiya’ hits theatres on September 27
Prantik Deka gives a comprehesive review of the Assamese film "Bhoot Jolokiya" releasing on 27th September

Obviously everyone knows about bhut jolokia or the ghost pepper, the world’s hottest chili. The chili that tests a person’s true strength and capacity. This special chili, which we all are very familiar with, has a special reputation abroad as well. This time the bhut jolokiya is coming closer to the public. Yes, we are talking about a new Assamese film here, a supernatural suspense thriller, which is all set to hit the screens on September 27. There’s an element of mystery hidden beneath the title.
The film’s story revolves around an exciting journey made by two men, Jivan and Mainu, where the two of them have a dark chapter in their lives, a dreadful past.
The character of Jivan is played by Mintu Baruah and the role of Mainu is enacted by Atanu Mahanta. The other roles are played by Tribeni Gogoi, Preety Khound Mahanta, Gautam Pathak, Dip Kumar Kalita, Barnali Kakati, Bhargav K Bora, Violeena Bordoloi, Adrita Parsha Mahanta, Jayshree Bhuyan, Nayan Bordoloi, Tarulata Das, Deep Kumar Kalita, Bishal Ozah, Bhupen Sarma etc. The film was shot in the scenic locations of Tippi in Arunachal, Jamuguri and Tezpur. The four songs in the film are composed by Subha Das, The Jamming Buddies and Aparajit Shrish. The lyrics are written by Mridupaban Baruti, Dimbeswar Das and Akashdeep Baruti. The background music is scored by Aparajit. The songs are rendered by Rupam Bhuyan, Rishi Bora, Uddipona Goswami, Alimpon Choudhury and Akashdeep Baruti.
The film’s story, screenplay and direction is by Chinmoy Sarmah. The dialogues are written by Neel Barman and Chinmoy Sarmah. Before this, Chinmoy Sarmah had directed a film called ‘Ajoni Suwali’ from his own story for the ott platform ReelDrama. He also wrote the story and screenplay for the film ‘Kokaideu Bindaas’. The cinematography is handled by Papu Deka. Edited by Hirak Jyoti Pathak, the sound designing is done by Debajit Gayan. The film’s location sound is done by Di Ky and Raj Tilak Deka, DI coloring by Ratan Sil Sarma, the assistant directors are Kishalay Malla Buzar Barua, Nitish Kashyap and Nayan Bordoloi, makeup by Nyumme Kamsi and costumes are by Moonmee Borah. Bhaskar Dhapu is the graphics designer, while works on film’s trailer and promo have been done by Diganta Gogoi. The poster has been designed by Tonmoy Kakati.
