Writer's Guidelines for North East Film Journal

1. Purpose of the Website

   • The North East Film Journal is a dedicated platform for exploring and celebrating the vibrant and diverse world of cinema, with a special emphasis on films and filmmaking from the North East region. Our mission is to provide a space for thoughtful analysis, in-depth reviews, and engaging discussions that shine a spotlight on the unique stories, talent, and culture of the region. We aim to foster a community of cinephiles, critics, and filmmakers who are passionate about preserving and promoting the art of cinema while amplifying voices that often go unheard in mainstream platforms.
     
     

2. Types of Articles Accepted

   • Reviews (Preferred)
   • Retrospectives
   • Panorama Pieces
   • Activities Related to Film
   • Film Interviews
   • Tributes to Film Personalities

3. Submission Rules

   • A writer may publish a maximum of 5 articles per month.
   • Among these, only one article can be an interview, and the same applies to tributes.
   • The remaining submissions should primarily be film reviews, as they are our preferred content type.
     
     

4. Quality Standards

   • Articles should reflect well-researched insights and professional language.
   • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited; all submissions will be checked for originality.
   • Content must align with the overall tone and purpose of the website.
     
     

5. Exclusive Rights

   • Articles submitted to the North East Film Journal must not be published on any other website or platform, either before or after publication on our website.
     
     

6. Formatting and Structure

   • Use a clear, concise structure with proper paragraphing and subheadings where applicable.
     
     

7. Interview Submissions

   • Ensure interviews are unique and offer fresh perspectives on individuals from the filmmaking community.
   • Include a brief bio of the interviewee and the purpose of the interview.
     
     

8. Submission Process

   • Include your name, article title, and type of article (e.g., Review, Interview).
   • Submissions must be in .docx or Google Doc format.
     
     

9. Editing Rights

   • The editorial team reserves the right to edit articles for grammar, clarity, and adherence to guidelines.
   • Major changes will be discussed with the writer before publication.
     
     

10. Conflict of Interest

    • Writers must disclose any connections to the film, individual, or organization they are reviewing or interviewing.
